Ingredients
- Banana – 4 nos
- Rice flour – 1 cup
- Grated coconut – 1 cup
- Salt – 1 or 2 tsp
Method
- Heat water in a steamer and place the idli mould
- Then we have to steam banana for 10 to 12 minutes
- Remove the lid and check whether the skin of the banana is starting to split in places.
- Remove and peel the steamed banana and allow it to cool.
- Then just cut the banana into small pieces.
- Then we have to cut banana leaves into small pieces .
- Take a bowl, add rice flour, grinded banana puree and salt .
- Combine them well.
- Add water little by little ,mixing thoroughly, till they become smooth dough.
- Then fill the dough into the idiyappam press and close the lid.
- Take a banana sheet and press the dough into a circle shape onto the banana leaves.
- Sprinkle some grated coconut on to the top of the dough .
- Again, press some dough on to the top and set aside.
- Then repeat the same process for the balance of the dough
- Then they placed the idiyappam dough into the steamer one by one .
- cover and Cook for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Once it is ready, remove the idiyappam from the steamer and set it aside.
- Serve and enjoy the tasty idiyappam
