Ingredients
- Banana leaves – 1 or 2 sheets
- Rice flour – 1 1/2 cup
- Grated coconut – 1 cup
- Salt – 1 or 2 tsp
Method
- Firstly, we have to wash the banana leaves and set them aside.
- Then cut the leaves into small pieces with your hands.
- Now we have to grind the banana leaves into a smooth paste and set it aside.
- Then drain the impurities from the grinded banana leaves with your hands and set them aside.
- Heat the vessel with water and allow water to simmer.
- Take a bowl add rice flour and salt mix well
- Now we add a little by little amount of ground banana leaf paste extract and mix them well with fingers.
- Then we take a puttu steamer and layer with grated coconut
- Again, we have to add rice flour and banana leaf extract.
- Then layer with grated coconut.
- Now we have to layer with a rice flour and banana leaf extract mix.
- Finally we add grated coconut and level it up.
- Place this mould on top of the simmering water bath.
- Then cover with the lid and cook them well.
- Steam passing through the lid hole shows that the puttu is cooked and ready.
- Then we detach the mould from the boiling water bath
- Then push the rice cake with a long stick on to a serving plate.
- Serve and enjoy the banana leaves steam cake with tea or coffee
- Beetroot steamed rice cake
Ingredients
- Beetroot – 1 or 2 nos
- Rice flour – 1 1/2 cup
- Grated coconut – 1 cup
- Salt – 1 or 2 tsp
Method
- Heat water in a steamer .
- Take a bowl, add rice flour and salt, and mix them well.
- Now we add the grated beetroot and mix them well, set aside.
- Take the puttu maker and layer it with grated coconut first,
- Then the layer with a rice flour and grated beetroot mix.
- Then layer with grated coconut.
- Now we have to layer with a rice flour and grated beetroot mix.
- Finally we add grated coconut and level it up.
- Place this mould on top of the steamer .
- Then cover with the lid and cook them well.
- Steam passing through the lid hole,shows that the puttu is cooked and ready.
- Then we detach the mould from the boiling water bath
- And push the rice cake with a long stick on to a serving plate.
- Serve and enjoy the tasty beetroot steamed rice cake
- Carrot Steamed Rice Cake

- Finally we add grated coconut and level it up.
- Place this mould on top of the steamer .
