Kerala style Sardine pickle

Ingredients

  • Sardines-1 kg
  • Red chilli powder- 6-7 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder- 4 tsp
  • Salt – 4 tsp
  • Oil – 4 tbsp
  • Garlic – 150g
  • Ginger – 100g
  • Green chilies- 5 nos
  • Curry leaves
  • Asafoetida powder- 2 tsp
  • Vinegar – 2 tbsp

Method 

  • Today we’re going to make kerala style sardine pickle
  • For that first cut and clean the sardine fish
  • Then keep it aside
  • Then cut the fish in to small pieces
  • Then marinate it with red chilli powder , turmeric powder and salt
  • Then heat oil in a pan and deep fry this marinated sardines
  • Then keep it aside
  • Then peel and slice garlic , ginger and green chilies
  • Now heat oil in another pan and add chopped ginger , garlic and green chilies
  • Then saute it well and add curry leaves
  • Now add red chilli powder , asafoetida powder, turmeric powder and salt
  • Then stir it and add vinegar in to it and mix
  • Then add the fried sardines in to it and mix thoroughly and remove from fire
  • Now heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds,curry leaves, fenugreek seeds and saute it
  • Then remove from fire and add this in to the sardines
  • Kerala style sardine pickle is ready to serve
