Ingredients
- Drum stick – 4 to 5 nos
- Shallots – 9 to 10 nos
- Green chilli -3 to 4 nosu
- Curry leaves -2 to 3 springs
- Tomato -2 nos
- Tamarind -small ball
- Grated coconut – 1 cup
- Red chilly powder – 2 tbsp
- Coriander powder -1 tbsp
- Turmeric powder -1/2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds -1 tsp
- Salt -1 or 2 tsp
- Oil -4 to 5 tbsp
Method
- First, we have to peel and cut the drumstick into medium length pieces.
- Wash them well, drain and keep a side.
- Then wash the tomatoes, chop them into small pieces, and set them aside.
- Take a bowl, add tamarind and water, soak them well.
- Heat oil in a pan,add grated coconut, curry leaves and shallots.
- Saute them well till they turn a light golden brown.
- Add red chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder.
- Saute and roast them well,set aside.
- Grind the roasted coconut mix into a fine paste and set it aside.
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- Then add curry leaves and green chilli and saute them well.
- Add chopped shallots and saute them well.
- Add chopped tomatoes, mix and cook them well.
- Now add the drum stick pieces and combine them well.
- Add a smooth paste of coconut mix and water, and mix them well.
- Then squeeze the soaked tamarind and drain, pour the extract water into the curry pan, and stir them well.
- Then sprinkle some salt on them and mix them well.
- Cover and cook till the drum sticks are well cooked.
- After 7 to 8 minutes, remove the lid and check whether the curry is well cooked or not.
- Once the curry is ready, remove it from the heat, set it aside.
- Serve the taste of drumstick curry with meals.
