Kerala style sardine fish roast

Ingredients

  • Sardines- 1kg
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tbsp
  • Pepper powder- 1 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Onion- 3 nos
  • Tomatoes- 3 nos
  • Green chilli- 2 nos
  • Ginger-2 pieces
  • Garlic – 7 to 8 nos
  • Curry leaves

Method

  • Clean and wash sardines and set it aside
  • Add red chilli powder, pepper powder , turmeric powder and salt
  • Marinate it and set it aside
  • Now peel onion and set it aside
  • Wash tomatoes, green chillies and onion
  • Then peel ginger and garlic and wash it
  • Now chop onion and green chilli and keep it aside
  • Then chop tomatoes in to tiny pieces and keep aside
  • Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the marinated sardines
  • And keep it aside after frying
  • Now grind the ginger and garlic in a grinding stone and keep aside
  • Now heat oil in a pan and add sliced onion
  • Then add green chilli and curry leaves and add ginger garlic paste
  • Saute it well till it turns brown
  • Now add red chilli powder turmeric powder pepper powder and salt according to taste
  • Then add tomatoes and mix it well
  • Now add the fried sardines to this masala and mix it well
  • Once the fish roast is ready
  • Remove from fire and set aside
  • Serve the tasty Kerala style sardine fish roast / fried mathi roast
