Ingredients
- Black chana- 1 kg
- Elephant foot yam -1/2 pieces
- Banana – 2 nos
- Curry leaves – 3 or 4 sprigs
- Turmeric powder – 1 tbsp
- Grated coconut – 1 cup
- Red chilli powder – 1 1/2 tbsp
- Pepper powder – 1 tsp
- Dry red chilli – 3 or 4 not
- Mustard seed – 1 tsp
- Salt – 1 or 2 tsp
- Oil – 2 to 3 tbsp
Method
- Take a bowl and black chana and water
- Rinse them well and set aside
- Take a pan add water and back chana
- Then add some salt and turmeric powder ,mix well
- Cover and cook them well.
- Then peel and chopped the elephant foot yam
- Wash and drain ,set aside
- Remove the lid and check whether the black chana is well cooked or not .
- Then peel and chopped the banana
- Wash and drain ,set aside.
- Then take a pan add chopped yam ,turmeric powder and salt
- Then pour some water and cook them well.
- Ones the yam is well cooked remove from fire and keep aside
- Then take pan add chopped banana and water .
- Cover and cook them well
- Remove the lid ,and check whether the banana is well cooked or not
- Remove from fire and keep aside.
Then we have to grinder grated coconut, into smooth paste and set a side. - Heat a pan add cooked banana, black chana and cooked yam
- Then add grounded coconut paste ,red chilli powder ,turmeric powder and salt ,Saute them well
- Then cook for 5 to 6 minutes
- Remove from fire and set aside
- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seed
- Lets them splutter
- Add dry red chilli and curry leaves ,saute them well
- Add grated coconut ,saute and roasted them well
- Add some pepper powder ,saute them well .
- Remove from fire
- Then add the roasted mixture into the koottu curry pan
- Combine them well
- Serve the tasty koottu curry with meals
