Masala Fried Potato – Aloo Fry

Ingredients

  • Potato – 2 to 3 nos
  • Onion – 2 nos
  • Green chilli – 3 to 4 nos
  • Curry leaves – 3 or 4 sprigs
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper powder – 1 tsp
  • Garam masala – 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida powder – 1 tsp
  • Urad dal – 1tsp
  • Cumin seed – 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek seed – 1 tsp
  • Mustard seed – 1 tsp
  • Salt – 1 or 2 tsp
  • Oil – 3 to 4 tbsp

Method

  • Firstly, peel the potato and set it aside.
  • Then cut it into small cubes.
  • Washed them well, drained and set them aside.
  • In a pan, heat the oil and add the mustard seed, allowing it to sputter.
  • Then add urad dal, cumin seed and fenugreek seed and saute them well.
  • Add curry leaves, green chillies and chopped onion.
  • Saute them well for a few minutes.
  • Sprinkle some salt on them and saute them well.
  • Then add curry powders like red chilli powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder and garam masala.
  • Saute till the raw smell disappears.
  • Then add asafoetida powder and saute them well.
  • Add the chopped potato cubes and combine them well.
  • Cover and cook the potatoes well.
  • Remove the lid, saute and fry them thoroughly.
  • Remove from fire and set aside.
  • Serve the tasty masala fried potato with meals
