INGREDIENTS
- Pearlspot fish – 5 to6 nos
- Onion- 3 to 4 nos
- Ginger – 1 big size
- Garlic -10 to 12nos
- Green chilli – 3 to 4nos
- Curry leaves – 2 to 3 sprigs.
- Malabar tamarind – 4 to 5 nos
- Grated coconut – 1 1/2 cup
- Red chilli powder – 1 1/2 tbsp
- Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
- Fenugreek powder – 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tbsp
- Fenugreek seed – 1 tsp
- oil-3 to 4 tbsp
- salt – 1or 2 tsp
Method
- Take a cup of water and add malabar tamarind. Soak for a few minutes.
- Then cut and clean the fish, wash them well, and set them aside.
- Then grated the coconut and set it aside.
- Take a pan, add grated coconut, and a little amount of water. Squeeze them well.
- Drain the thick coconut milk and keep it aside.
- Again, add water to the squeezed coconut pan.
- squeezed them well with hands and drain thin coconut milk, set aside.
- Heat a pan and add a sufficient amount of oil.
- Then add the fenugreek seed and heat for a few minutes.
- Add chopped onion, garlic ,ginger and green chilli, and sauté them well.
- Add curry leaves and sauté them well.
- Now add curry powders such as red chilli powder,coriander powder and turmeric powder. Saute them well.
- Pour thin coconut milk into the pan and stir them well.
- then add soaked malabar, tamarind, and salt and stir them well.
- Cover and boil them well.
- Once it is well boiled, remove the lid, add pearl spot fish, and mix them well with a woollen spachula.
- Again, cover and cook till the fish is well cooked and soft.
- remove the lid, add thick coconut milk, and stir them well.
- cook for a few minutes, remove from heat, and set aside.
- Heat oil in a pan, add chopped onions, and sauté them well.
- then add curry leaves and sauté them well.
- Now add some curry powders, such as red chili powder,,fenugreek powder, and turmeric powder.
sauté and fry them well. - Once it is fried, remove it from the fire and pour the fried ingredients into the fish curry pan.
- Mix them well with a spatula.
- Serve the pearl spot fish curry with boiled tapioca or other meals.
