Ingredients
- Sardine fish – 1 kg
- Shallots – 17 to 18 nos
- Ginger – 1 nos
- Garlic – 8 to 9 nos
- Green chilli – 3 or 4 nos
- Curry leaves – 2 or 3 sprigs
- Tomatoes -2 nos
- Malabar tamarind – 4 or 5 nos
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tbsp
- Red chilli powder – 1 1/2 tbsp
- Coriander seed – 1 tbsp
- Mustard seed – 1 tsp
- Salt – 1 or 2 tbsp
- Oil – 6 or 7 tbsp
Method
- Firstly , we have to cut and clean the sardine fish .
- Then wash and set a side.
- Take a bowl add malabar tamarind and water
- Soak for 8 to 9 minutes .
- Then we have to crush ginger and garlic ,set aside.
- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seed and fenugreek seed ,lets them crackled.
- Add curry leaves and green chilli ,sauté them well.
- Then add crush ginger and garlic paste ,sauté them well.
- Then add chopped shallots and saute till they become transluent.
- Then add turmeric powder ,red chilli powder and coriander powder ,sauté them well.
- Then add chopped tomatoes and sauté till they become soften .
- Then add sufficient amount of water and stir them well.
- Add soaked malabar tamarind and salt .
- Stir and boil them well.
- Add cleaned sardine fishes and cover and cook them well.
- Finally pour some coconut oil and mix them well.
- Remove from fire and set aside
- Serve and enjoy shappu style sardine curry with boiled tapioca or meals.
