Tasty Kerala Sweet Rice Balls – Ari Unda


  • Rice – 2 cups
  • Cashew nut – 250 grms
  • Jaggery – 1 cup
  • grated coconut – 1 1/2 cup
  • Cardamom – 5 to 6 nos
  • Dry ginger powder – 2 tbsp


  • Take a pan and add rice and water.
  • Wash them well, drain, and keep them aside.
  • Heat a pan and roast the rice till it changes its colour uniformly to a darker shade.
  • once it’s crisp and shrinks them well.
  • Then transfer it to a plate and let it cool down.
  • Add cashew nuts and roast them well.Transfer it to a plate and set it aside.
  • Then grind the roasted rice into a fine powder and set it aside.
  • Then grind the cashewnut into a fine powder and set it aside.
  • Then crush the cardamom into a fine powder and set it aside.
  • Then grated the jaggery and set it aside.
  • Take a pan, Add a quarter portion of roasted, ground rice.
  • Then add the roasted cashewnut mix.Again, add grated coconut and jaggery.
  • Add crushed cardamom and dry ginger powder.Mix them well with your hands.
  • Then grab some of the mixture and shape them into lime-sized balls by squeezing the mixture between your palms until it firms up.
  • Then mix with the roasted riceground mix and set aside.
  • Repeat the process till the entire mix is made into small balls.
  • Serve the delicious cashew rice balls.
