Beetroot chutney recipe


  • Beetroot-2 nos
  • Dry red chilli-3 0r 4 nos
  • Shallots-7 or 8 nos
  • Grated coconut -1/2 cup
  • Curry leaves-2 sprigs
  • Coriander seed-1 tbsp
  • Tamarind-small piece
  • Salt –to taste
  • Oil-2 tbsp


  • First take a pan add coconut oil let the oil become hot add dry red chilli
  • Then they Saute stirring often on a low flame till the change the colour. Do
    not burn them,and they transfer to the side of the bowl
  • Again we add shallots,grated coconut, curry leaves ,coriander seedmix well
    and saute some minutes
  • Then we add beetroot pieces mix well and saute on a low flame for 7to 8
    minutes or till the raw aroma of the beetroot goes away. Keep on stirring often
    while sauteing.
  • Then we add small piece of tamarind and salt mix well and cook some
  • Then we grind dry red chilli and salt into fine paste
  • Again we grind the sauted ingredients like beetroot ,coconut etc.. into fine
    paste and transfer a bowl
  •  Serve it
