Malabar Chicken Currry & Chappathi

Ingredients

  • Chicken – 1 kg
  • Onion – 5 nos
  • Tomato – 2 nos
  • Green chilli – 4 nos
  • Ginger – 1 nos
  • Garlic – 7 or 8 nos
  • Curry leaves – 3 or 4 sprigs
  • Coriander leaves – small hand full
  • Grated coconut – 1 cup
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala- 1 tbsp
  • fennel seed – 1 tsp
  • Black pepper – 1 tsp
  • Cumin seed – 1 tsp

Method

  • Firstly we have to cut and cleaned the chicken .
  • Then wash and drain them well, set aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan add grated coconut ,saute them well.
  • Then add fennel seed ,black pepper ,cumin seed and curry leaves
  • saute and roasted till they become light brown colour .
  • Remove from fire and keep aside.
  • Then grind the roasted coconut mix into fine paste
  • Heat oil in a pan ,add chopped ginger and garlic ,green chilli and chopped onion saute them well.
  • Then add salt and saute until the shallots are translucent
  • Then add turmeric powderer ,red chilli powder ,coriander powder and garam masala, Saute then well.
  • Then add chopped tomatoes and saute well
  • Add some cleaned chicken and combine them well.
  • Then pour sufficient amount of water and mix them well.
  • Cover and cook till the chicken become soften.
  • Then add grounded masala and mix them well.
  • Then add little amount of water and mix them well
  • Then cover and cook for 4 to 5 minutes
  • Then sprinkle some garam masala and cumin powder
  • Then pour some oil
  • Then add some chopped coriander leaves
  • Remove from fire and keep a side.
  • Serve the tasty malabar chicken curry with chappathi.

Ingredients for chappathi

  • Wheat flour – 2 cup
  • Water – 1 or 2 cup
  • Oil – 2 or 3 tbsp
  • Salt – 1 or 2 tsp

Method

  • Take a large bowl add wheat flour
  • Then sprinkle some salt and oil ,mix them well.
  • Then add water little by little
  • And know well for a few minutes until its combined well.
  • Then rest for 20 to 30 minutes .
  • Now take small size dough .
  • Roll the balls in the palms to smoothen it
  • Dust both sides of the flattened balls with
  • Some flour and roll it using a roller pin and board
  • Heat a pan add placed a chappathi on it
  • Cook both sides by flipping the chappathi
  • Remove from pan and set aside.
  • Serve the chappathi with Malabar chicken curry.
