Kerala Style Tasty Chicken Fry Recipe –Payyoli Chicken


  • Chicken-1 kg
  • Flour-1/2 cup
  • Dry red chilli- 5 or 6 nos
  • Fennel seed-1 tbsp
  • Garlic -7 or 8
  • Ginger-1 medium
  • Pearl onion-9 or 10
  • Green chilli-6 or 7 nos
  • Lemon – ½ slice
  • Grated coconut-1/2 cup
  • Garam masala-1 tbsp
  • Pepper powder-1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder-1/2 tbsp
  • Oil –for frying
  • Salt to taste


  • First we wash and clean the chicken and set it a side
  • Then we grind the dry red chilli, fennel seed, garlic, ginger and pearl onion into fine paste,
    keep it in a side.
  • Then we take a bowl, mix the flour ,garam masala, pepper powder ,turmeric powder,salt and
    lemon juice well
  • Again we add the chicken pieces into the masala bowl and mix well,keep a side for half an
    hour .
  • Heat oil in a pan add grated coconut and mix and saute till the colour change into golden
  • Again we heat oil in a pan add green chilli and curry leaves saute well and keep it in a side
  • Heat oil in a heavy bottom pan add marinated chicken pieces , fry well on low flame.
  • Once the chicken pieces are fried, add the roasted coconut mix, and fried green chilli to it,
    and mix well
  • Then we serve and enjoy the taste of kerala style tasty chicken fry..
