Evening snack recipe –Pineapple ada


  • Pineapple – 1 nos
  • Banana – 3 nos
  • Jaggery – 2 big balls
  • Wheat flour – 1 ½ cupo
  • Grated coconut – 1 cup
  • Sugar – ½ cup
  • Cardamom – 5 to 6 nos
  • Cumin seed – 1 tsp
  • Banana leaves – 7 or 8 medium sheets
  • Ghee – 1 or 2 tbsp


  • Firstly we have to peel ,cut and chopped the pineapple .
  • Again peel and cut the bananas into small thin slices,keep aside
  • Heat water in a pan add jaggary ,boil them well,drain and set aside.
  • Now we have to crush cardamom and cumin seed into fine powder and keep aside.
  • Then we have to cut the banana leaves into medium sized sheets and set aside.
  • Heat ghee in a pan add finally chopped pineapple and saute them well.
  • Add chopped banana slices and cook them well.
  • Then we have to add sufficient amount of sugar and cook till they become completely melted .
  • Add grated coconut and crushed cardamom cumin mix powder ,combine them well.
  • Remove from fire and set aside.
  • Take a bowl add rice flour and little by little of drained jaggery water and make smooth batter .it
    should not be too thick or too loose .
  • Add crushed cinnamon cumin powder mix, stir them well.
  • Then we have to add sauted pineapple and coconut mix ,combine them well,set aside.
  • Make cones from banana sheets ,secure with the stem of coconut leaves ( toothpicks)
  • Fill the batter mixture into the cones,bend the top of the leaves.
  • Heat water in a idli steamer and place idli mould.
  • Then place the batter cones on a idli mould and steam for 20 to 22 minutes or till cooked through.
  • Ones the ada is ready remove from fire and set aside.
  • Serve warm and enjoy the tasty pineapple ada with tea.
