Kerala style fish curry / ayala curry

Ingredients

  • Indian mackerel – 4 nos
  • Garlic – 10 to 15 nos
  • Ginger – 2 pieces
  • Tomatoes – 2 nos
  • Green chilies – 6 nos
  • Curry leaves
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Fenugreek seeds – 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder – 2 1/2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Tamarind water – 1 large bowl

Method 

  • Today we’re going to make kerala style fish curry / ayala curry
  • For that first clean the fish and keep aside
  • Then peel garlic and ginger and wash it and keep aside
  • Now wash tomatoes and green chilies and keep it aside
  • Then chop the ginger
  • Then slice tomatoes and keep aside
  • Then slice green chilies and keep it aside
  • Now make ginger garlic paste in a grinding stone and keep it aside
  • Then heat oil in a pan
  • Then add the ginger garlic paste and saute
  • Along with ginger garlic paste add fenugreek seeds and saute
  • Then smash the sliced tomatoes with hands and add it
  • Then saute it well and add red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt
  • Then add tamarind water to it and mix thoroughly
  • Close the pan and cook for few minutes
  • Then open the pan and add the fish in to it
  • Then add sliced green chilies and curry leaves and mix it slowly
  • Then close the pan again and let it cook for few more minutes
  • Now open the lid and check whether the fish is cooked and add some curry leaves and a teaspoon of oil
  • Now remove the pan from fire
  • Kerala style fish curry / Ayala curry is ready to serve
