Kerala Traditional Jackfruit Avial


  • Jack fruit – 16 to 17 nos
  • Mango – 2nos
  • Drum stick -2nos
  • Garlic – 4 or 5 nos
  • Curry leaves – 3 sprigs
  • Grated coconut- 1 cup
  • Cumin-1 tsp
  • Dry redchilli-4nos
  • Oil – 2 or 3 tbsp
  • Salt – 1 or 2 tsp


  • Firstly we have to peel and remove the outer thorn, the cut and remove the seeds in all the
    jackfruit pieces and chopped into length wise ,set aside.
  • Then peel the raw mangoes and chopped into length wise keep a side .
  • Peel the drum stick and cut into medium pieces ,set aside.
  • Grind dry red chilli ,grated coconut ,cumin seed and garlic ,keepaside.
  • Heat a pan add drum stick andwater cook for few minutes .
  • Then add chopped mango, jack fruit ,some water and salt mix them well.
  • Cover and cook for 6 to 7 minutes.
  • Then add grinded coconut mix paste and cook for few minutes.
  • Finally add some coconut oil and curry leaves mix them well.
  • Remove from fire and set aside.
  • Serve the tasty jackfruit avail with meals.
