Papaya cowpea thoran

Ingredients

  • Papaya – 1 no.
  • Cowpea – 1/4 kg.
  • Shallot – 10 grams.
  • Bird’s eye chili – 10 grams.
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 teaspoon.
  • Cumin – 1/2 teaspoon.
  • Garlic – 1 no.
  • Coconut – 1 no.
  • Salt.
  • Oil.
  • Mustard.
  • Curry leaves.

Method

  • Slice papaya into small pieces.
  • Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard. Saute in shallots, sliced papaya, and curry leaves.
  • Make a paste of coconut, bird’s eye chilies, turmeric powder, garlic, curry leaves. Add the paste to the thoran. Mix in the cooked cowpea, season salt and cover, cook. Remove from the flame.
  • Papaya cowpea thoran ready.
