Pazham Nurukku – Pazham Nurukku


  • Banana – 3 nos
  • Jaggery – 250 gram
  • Grated coconut – 1 cup
  • Cardamom – 9 to 10 nos
  • Ghee – 2 or 3 tbsp


  • Heat water in a pan
  • Add jaggery and boil them well.
  • Take a bowl, add grated coconut and a small amount of water.
  • Squeeze and drain them well and set them aside.
  • When the jaggery has completely melted, remove from the heat and set aside.
  • Then crush cardamom into a fine powder and set aside.
  • Then strain the jaggery syrup to remove dirt if any.
  • Then peel the banana .
  • Sliced into thin pieces and set aside.
  • Heat ghee in a pan
  • Add chopped banana and fried them well.
  • When the bananas turn golden brown
  • Drain and set aside.
  • Heat ghee in a pan or use a banana frying pan .
  • Add grated coconut and roast them well.
  • Then add the strained jaggery syrup and mix well.
  • Then boil for a few more minutes.
  • Add crushed cardamom powder and stir them well.
  • Then add shallow fried banana slices and mix them well.
  • Cook till the gravy thickens.
  • Finally, add thick coconut milk
  • Saute till it becomes dry.
  • Take the pan off the heat and set it aside.
  • Serve and enjoy the tasty pazhum nurukku
