Kerala Style Tasty Soya Chunk Curry

Ingredients

  • Soya chunks – 2 cups
  • Onion – 2 nos
  • Shallots – 6 to 7 nos
  • Green chilli – 2 or 3 nos
  • Tomatoes – 1 nos
  • Curry leaves – 3 or 4 sprigs
  • Grated coconut – 1 cup
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tbsp
  • Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala – 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1 1 /2 tbsp
  • Pepper powder – 1 tbsp
  • Fennel seed – 1 tsp
  • Dry red chilli – 3 to 4 nos
  • Mustard seed – 1 tsp
  • Salt – 1 or 2 tsp
  • Oil – 5 to 6 tbsp

Method

  • Heat water in a pan, add soya chunks, and boil them well.
  • Take the pan off the heat and set it aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan,add grated coconut and fennel seed.
  • Saute them well, for few seconds.
  • Add curry leaves and saute them well.
  • Saute and roast them well until they become a light golden brown.
  • Take the pan off the heat and set it aside.
  • Then drain the soaked soya chunks and set them aside.
  • Heat a pan and add chopped soya chunks.
  • Add chopped onion, green chilli, tomatoes and curry leaves.
  • Add the crushed ginger and garlic mix.
  • Add turmeric powder, coriander powder and garam masala.
  • Then add red chilli powder, pepper powderand salt.
  • Pour a sufficient amount of water over them and thoroughly mix them.
  • Cover and cook them well.
  • Then grind the roasted coconut mix into a fine paste and set it aside.
  • Remove the lid and check whether the soya is well coated with masala.
  • Then add the roasted ground masala and mix them well.
  • Then cook for 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Take the pan off the heat and set it aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard seed, dry red chilli, and shallots.
  • Saute them well.
  • Then add curry leaves and saute and fry them well.
  • Remove the pan from the fire and pour the fried mixture into the curry pan.
  • Combine them well.
  • Serve the tasty soya chunk curry with meals.
