Tasty and healthy hibiscus rasam


  • Hibiscus flowers – 20 flowers
  • Dried red chilli- 6 nos
  • Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
  • Coriander seeds- 1 tsp
  • Garlic – 10 to 12 nos
  • Ginger – 3 to 4 pieces
  • Pepper seeds – 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder- 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Tomatoes- 1 nos
  • Tamarind water – 1 large bowl
  • Curry leaves
  • Mustard seeds- 1 tsp


  • Today we’re going to prepare tasty and healthy hibiscus rasam
  • For that first collect hibiscus flower from the plant
  • Now separate all the petals from the flower and wash it and keep it aside
  • Then chop all the separated hibiscus petals and set it aside
  • Then grind the dried red chillies , Cumin seeds, coriander seeds,pepper seeds , ginger and garlic in a grinding stone and make a paste out of it
  • Then transfer the paste in to a bowl
  • Then add red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt
  • Then add chopped tomatoes and mix it thoroughly with hands
  • Then add tamarind water to it and mix well again with hands
  • Then add curry leaves to it
  • Now place this pan in the stove and add asafoetida powder
  • Then close the pan and wait till it boils
  • Now add all the chopped hibiscus flower to it and mix well and cook for sometime
  • Then remove from fire
  • Now heat oil in a pan and add mustard and curry leaves, then saute it
  • Remove it from fire and add to the rasam
  • Tasty and healthy hibiscus rasam is ready to serve
