Anchovy Coconut Curry – Netholi Curry

Ingredients

  • Anchovies fish – 1 kg
  • Raw mango – 2 nos
  • Shallots – 18 to 20nos
  • Curry leaves – 3 to 4 sprigs
  • Tamarind – small pieces.
  • Grated coconut – 1 cup
  • Dry red chillies – 4 to 5 nos
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seed – 1 tsp
  • Salt – 1 or 2 tsp
  • Oil – 3 or 4 tbsp

Method

  • Firstly we have to peel and cut the raw mango ,set aside.
  • Then chopped into small pieces and set aside.
  • Grind green chilli, cumin seed ,grated coconut, turmeric powder ,red chilli powder and shallots into smooth paste and set aside.
  • Then cut and clean the anchovies fish .
  • Wash and drain them well, set aside.
  • Take a pan add shallots,green chilliand curry leaves.
  • Then add chopped mango and soaked tamarind water
  • Then add grinded coconut and red chilli mix
  • Add sufficient amount of water and mix them well.
  • Again pour some water and mix them well.
  • Then place the fish curry mix pan on the heat.
  • Cover and cook them well.
  • Add anchovies fish and mix them well.
  • Covert and cook them well.
  • Remove the lid and check whether the fish is well cooked or not.
  • Remove from fire and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan add mustard seed,let them spluttered
  • Add shallots,dry red chilliand curry leaves
  • Saute and fry them well.
  • Remove from fire and pour the mixture into the fish curry pan.
  • Mix them well.
  • Serve the tasty anchovies fish curry with tapioca or meals
