Super Tasty Kerala Banana Kozhakattai – Pazham Kozhukatta

Ingredients

  • Rice flour – 1. 1/2 cup
  • Banana – 3 to 4 nos
  • Grated coconut – 1 1/2 cup
  • Jaggery – 250 gram
  • Dry ginger powder – 1 tsp
  • Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
  • Salt – 1 or 2 tsp
  • Ghee – 3 to 4 tbsp

Method

  • Firstly, we have to heat water in a steamer.
  • Then place a mould on top, cover with a lid, and boil them well.
  • Then cut the two edges of the banana.
  • Again cuts the bananas into medium-sized pieces and sets them aside.
  • Now place the banana in the steamer and steam for 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Remove the lid and check whether the skin of the banana is starting to split in places.
  • Remove the steamed banana from the steamer and set it aside.
  • Heat a pan and add grated coconut.
  • Saute for a few minutes.
  • Then add grated jaggery and sauté them well.
  • Again, add dry ginger powder and cardamom powder and sauté them well.
  • Remove from the fire and transfer to a plate for cooling.
  • Then peel the cooked banana and set it aside.
  • Then smash the cooked banana into a fine puree.
  • Add rice flour and salt to the smashed banana.
  • Mix them well with neat hands.
  • Again, add water little by little and mix them well to make a smooth dough.
  • Pour some oil on top of the mixed dough.
  • Again, mix them well and set them aside.
  • Now take a small ball of dough and flatten it.
  • Put some coconut mix in the middle, close the dough, and shape it back into a ball.
  • Repeated the same process on the balanced dough.
  • Then remove the steamer lid and place a banana leaf on top.
  • Put the banana kozhukattai balls in the steamer for 10 to 15 minutes on a low flame.
  • Remove from the heat and set aside when done.
  • Serve the tasty steamed sweet banana snack recipe with coffee.
