Drumstick Leaves & Jackfruit Seeds Thoran


  • Chakkakuru / Jackfruit seeds: 1 cup
  • Drumstick leaves (muringayila)-1 ½ cup
  • Grated coconut: 1 cup
  • Garlic: 3 cloves
  • Green chillies: 2
  • Shallots: 5 or 6
  • Cumin seeds: 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder: 1/2 tsp
  • Salt: 1 tsp
  • Coconut oil: 4 tbsp


  • Peel the skin of jackfruit seeds and chop into two halves.
  •  Cook the jack fruit seeds with enough water in a pan until done.
  •  Wash the drumstick leaves and drain out excess water
  •  Grind the grated coconut ,chilli, turmeric ,garlic, and cumin seed
  •  Take a pan splutter the mustard seed and lightly sauté the shallots
  • Add drumstick leaves , mix well and saute for some minutes
  •  Then we add the grinded coconut paste ,and salt to taste ,mix the all ingredients together
  •  Finely added the cooked jack fruit seed and mix every thing properely
  •  Cover and cook for some minutes
  •  Serve the recipe with rice
