Garlic Pepper Rice – potato pepper fry recipe

Ingredients

  • Basmati rice – 1kg
  • Onion – 4 nos
  • Garlic – 7 or 8 petals
  • Curry leaves – 3 sprigs
  • Coriander leaves – one hand full
  • Dry red chilli – 3 or 4 nos
  • Mustard seed – 1 tsp
  • Toor dal – 1 or 2 tsp
  • Urud dal – 1 or 2 tsp
  • Salt – 1 or 2 tsp
  • Oil – 2 tbsp

Method

  • First we have to wash and cleaned the basmati rice.
  • Then soak for half an hour,then drain and keep a side.
  • Heat water in a heavy bottom pot add drained basmati rice ,cover and cook well.
  • Ones the rice is ready ,drain and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a heavy bottom pan add mustard seed , toordal and urud dal when they started to
    spultter .
  • Add dry red chilli,chopped onion and chopped garlic saute well for 7 to 8 minutes.
  • Add curry leaves and salt,saute them well.
  • Now we have to add cooked basmati rice and mix them properly.
  • Finally we have to add chopped coriander leaves and cook for 5 or 6 minutes.
  • Remove from fire and set aside.
  • Serve and enjoy with potato pepper fry.

  • Potato – ½ kg
  • Curry leaves – 3 sprigs
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Dry red chilli – 4 nos
  • Fennel seed – 1 tsp
  • Cumin seed – 1 tsp
  • Pepper seed – 2 tsp
  • Mustard seed – 1 tsp
  • Salt – 1 or 2 tsp
  • Oil – 2 tbsp

Method

  • First we have to peel ,wash and cut the potatoes into length wise.
  • Heat water in a pan add turmeric powder, salt and potatoes ,boil them well .
  • Ones the potatoes are cooked well ,drain excess water and set a side.
  • Heat oil in a pan add dry red chilli, fennel seed, cumin seed and pepper seed ,fry them well .
  • Then we have to grind the fried ingredients like dry red chilli ,fennel seed etc into fine paste
    and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan add mustard seed ,when they started to splutters .
  • Add curry leaves, cooked potatoes and crushed masala ,mix them well.
  • Add some salt to taste ,and mix it well.
  • Remove from fire and set a side.
  • Serve and enjoy fried potatoes with garlic pepper rice.
