Kerala rice roty breakfast dinner recipe OROTTI


  • Rice flour-1kg
  • Cumin seed-1/2 tsp
  • Shallots-4 or 5 nos
  • Grated coconut-1/2 cup
  • Coconut milk-1/2 cup
  • Hot water-to mix
  • Ghee-1 or 2 tsp
  • Salt –to taste


  •  First we crush the cumin seed and again we crush shallots and keep a side.
  •  Take a large bowl add rice flour ,grated coconut and salt mix well
  •  Then we add crushed cumin seed and shallots mix well
  •  Add hot water on the rice flour mixture ,little by little mix well to form a dough
  •  Then we take a banana leaf ,take a small piece of dough
  •  Press this dough on leaf with hands in a medium thickness
  •  Heat a flat pan,add ghee and transfer the orotti on the pan
  •  One side is ready, flip the orotti to cook the other side for some minutes
  •  Remove from the pan and add coconut milk on the top
  •  And enjoy the taste of orotti with beef or chicken curry…
