Kerala Style Bitter Ground Fry Recipe


  • Bitter ground -1/2 kg
  • Grated coconut-1/2 cup
  • Cuminseed-1tsp
  • Garlic -8 or 9
  • Peanut-250 grm
  • Turmeric powder-1 tsp
  • Mustard seed-1 tsp
  • Onion-1 medium
  • Curry leaves-4 sprigs
  • Red chilli powder- 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying


  • Take a pan add grated coconut ,cumins seed ,garlic and pea nut saute well ,they
    turned golden brown
  • Then we grind the roasted coconut into fine paste ,and keep a side.
  • Heat oil in pan add bitter ground ,salt and turmeric powder , saute well on a low or
    medium flame till the slices become lightly browned ,and keep a side
  • Heat oil in a another pan add mustard seed ,allow to splutter ,add onion ,salt and
    curry leaves saute well
  • Then we add red chilli powder and grinded coconut paste mix well
  • Finally we add fried bitter gourd ,mix and cover and cook for some minutes
  • Turn off the flame and serve the kerala style bitter gourd fry with meals
  • Enjoy the variety taste of bitter gourd fry..
