Kerala Style Sardine Fish Roast

Ingredients

  • Sardine Fish – 1 kg
  • Onion – 2 nos
  • Green chilli – 2 to 3 nos
  • Garlic – 7 to 8 nos
  • Ginger – 1 nos
  • Tomatoes – 2 nos
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper powder – 1 tbsp
  • Fenugreek powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Dry red chilli – 7 to 8 nos
  • Mustard seed – 1 tsp
  • Salt – 1 or 2 tsp
  • Oil – 5 to 6 tbsp

Method

  • Firstly, we have to peel the onion and set it aside.
  • Peel the garlic and set it aside.
  • Then peel the ginger and keep it aside.
  • Then wash and drain the peeled onion, green chilli, garlic and ginger.
  • Chopped the onion and set aside.
  • Then cut the green chilli and keep it aside.
  • Chop the tomatoes and keep them aside.
  • Crush the dry red chilli into a fine powder and keep aside.
  • Then crush the ginger and garlic into a fine paste and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, and let them crackle.
  • Then add green chilli and chopped onion.
  • Saute them well for a few minutes.
  • Then add crushed ginger and garlic and sauté them well.
  • Add crushed dry red chilli and turmeric powder.
  • Then add pepper powder and fenugreek powder.
  • Then add some red chilli powder and sauté them well.
  • Then add some red chilli powder.
  • Then add the tomatoes and sauté till the become soft.
  • Then sprinkle some salt on them and sauté them well.
  • Then add the cleaned fish and mix them properly.
  • Add some water and mix them well.
  • Cover and cook till the fish is well cooked.
  • Remove the lid and add some curry leaves.
  • Again, cover with a lid and cook them well.
  • Remove the lid and check whether the fish is cooked or not.
  • Once the fish roast is ready,
  • Remove from the fire and set aside.
  • Serve the tasty sardine fish roast
