Easy Urad Dal Chutney

Ingredients

  • Urad dal – 1 cup
  • Shallots – 16 to 17 nos
  • Garlic – 8 or 9 nos
  • Ginger – 1 nos
  • Curry leaves – 3 or 4 sprigs
  • Tamarind – small ball
  • Dry red chilli – 4 or 5 nos
  • Oil – 3 or 4 tbsp
  • Salt – 1 or 2 tbsp

Method

  • Take a pan add urad dal and water
  • Then thoroughly wash and drain them before setting them aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan add urad dal and saute them well.
  • Add dry red chillies,grated coconut ,curry leaves ,shallots ,garlic and ginger
  • Saute and fry them well.
  • Remove from fire and set aside.
  • Then grind the roasted dry red chilli and salt into a fine powder.
  • Then add tamarind and grind them well.
  • Now add the roasted coconut mix and grind into a smooth paste. Set aside.
  • Then pour some water and mix them well
  • Heat oil in a pan ,add dry red chillies ,shallots and curry leaves .
  • Saute and fry them well.
  • Add the roasted ground coconut mix and mix them well.
  • Add some amount of water and mix them well.
  • Cook for some minutes
  • Remove from fire and set aside.
  • Serve the tasty urad dal chutney with Idli or dosa
