Kerala Snack Recipe Dal And Rice Flour


  • Rice flour – 1 1/2 cup
  • Urad dal -1 cup
  • Black Sesame seed – 1or 2 tsp
  • Oil – 1 or 2 tbsp
  • Salt – 1 or 2 tbsp


  • Heat a pan, add urad dal, and roast them well.
  • Take the pan off the heat and set it aside.
  • Take a bowl, add rice flour, and powdered roasted urad dal.
  • Add black sesame seed and mix them well.
  • Add water little by little and knead it into a smooth dough. Keep aside.
  • Take an idiyappam mould with murukku plates in it.
  • Add the dough to it and close it, set aside.
  • Take a banana sheet and press the dough into a circle shape onto the banana leaves.
  • Then repeat the same process for the balance of the dough .
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Then they placed the murukku dough pieces one by one into the hot oil.
  • Deep fry till they become golden colour and crispy
  • Keep it in an airtight container.
  • Serve the tasty rice murukku with tea or coffee.
